A really good way is to use mouthwash often.
It will sting and burn; but within a few hours it will get better.

A slower way is to use fruits that have VitaminC.
Take a lemon or orange wedge and peel of the skin.
Then, press it upon your coldsore. This remedy takes a bit longer.
    GoodLuck.

Green tea. It's good for a sore throat. Drink plenty of water. And take some sort of vitamins daily.

Hey there, I am a 21 year old male college student, I just got one this monday (01/18/10) wokeup with a red bump on my lip and knew what was coming. After working 24 hours this weekend I figured it was from being rundown and over working my body. At first sight, i put crest toothpaste on it (being a broke college student cant afford any medication, not like it even works) kept doing so all day while also icing the sore as much as possible. Monday night i took a sterilized needle, and popped all the individual sores. BE CAREFUL when doing this because u need to take a tissue and get the fluid immediatly when popping it otherwise it will leak and spread the virus. After popping EVERY SORE (if you miss any it will ruin the whole process) i took a q tip dabbed in nail polish remover and held it on there for about 30 seconds to a minute...burns like hell but to make these things go away id do ANYTHING. Continued putting nail polish remover on it for several minutes, then covered it in toothpaste before bed. Wokeup tuesday morning and it was covered with the yellow crusting scab after peeling off the toothpaste. Today it is wedsnesday, and the sore is a third of the size and its on its second round of scabbing. Im hoping before work tomorrow night the scab is compltely gone, but at worst very little and not half as noticeable as a disgusting bulging cold sore ( i am a bartender and it would ruin my night) Im telling you this process might be painful, but was very successful for me. What usually takes up to two weeks to compltely heal and disapear, is almost gone in 3 days! Good luck with your struggles, and remember although they are very embarassing and make you self consicous, 8 out of 10 people in the world have this virus and get a cold sore at one time or another.

how ever much you want too.... dont burst it .. it will spread..
i dont touch mine at all and in a couple of days there gone..
burst it and it takes 2 weeks
all the cream only works if you feel the tingle first. when you have it cream has no effect

Orajel cold sore ointment and patches both work really great and get rid of them the quickes that I know of.

A friend of mine had cold sores all of the time due to medication he was taking and that was the quickest way to get rid of them.

Surely originally, you need to pick the anyyourself, but that doesn't necessarily mean that you best as a matter a fact undergo with it once it has been chosen

First, there is a prescription called zovirax which helps brings down the frequency with which you get them. To get rid of it I apply abreva during the day and carmex at night. Also for prevention I apply carmex every night before bed. To conceal it (if you want to but I wouldn't recommend it unless you are going out and don't want people to see it) I would go with high grade concealer like perscriptives camouflage cream.
