You can get a prescription for Valtrex & a topical cream called "Zovirax" they work great & fast!
What also helps is put distilled white vinegar on it, dab it with a cotton ball or tissue, do not rub it. (The vinegar won't sting, I promise) if you can't get a prescription there is other things you get at the store such as a supplement called "Lysine" (but truthfully I don't think it works) & OTC Abreva, or Carmex which help a lot. You can also apply light makeup like a concealer if you have too.
I know they're HORRIBLE & embarrassing, but if all else fails, remember that almost everyone gets one now & then, so most people will understand how you feel. & know they're temporary, but contagious so don't kiss anyone! =o) Sorry, they suck, but they will go away!
