Show me another »How to get rid of a cold sore with no medicine?
I woke up today and the cold sore spread to another side of my lip, not really big but I want to get rid of it as soon as possible.. is there anything I can do that doesn't involve medicine?

Put toothpaste or coffee on it and leave it on as long as possible (all day if you can). This dries it out and it should disappear quicker that it would otherwise. However, this is not as effective as the medicine (such as Zoviraz) that is applied before the cold sore appears.

I use white vinegar,if u apply it as soon as u feel it,it works like ZOVIRAX

- I regularly get cold sores and I regularly get rid of them by dabbing tea tree oil on the ticklish spot as soon as you feel the tickle. Get a cotton bud, pour tree oil on to it and spend about 20 to 30 seconds holding the cotton bud to the cold sore/ticklish spot.
Do this twice a day, one of which should be just before going to bed. I find that the cold sore rarely develops into a full blown running around the lips sore and is often completely clear in two or three days.
Good luck - try aloe vera, vaseline, lip balm, tannic acid in tea or any other method that will help. try asking around or online for advice. go to your GP or pharmasict for help and advice. you can buy med online from Ebay or Amazon Prime or any good medicine retailers. try lip gel that workde for me. ask your parents for the best advice and the best prodcuts to use for the cold sore. do some research on the net and learm about old fashioned healing and remedial methods and try the best one or the most popularest one even. but dont try sara freders one as it can harm you really. drink hearbl tea or try hearbal remedies. herbal remedies can help. look online and choose your fav one. or you can use minty toothpaste, ladies perfume, alchol based scents, variety cream, antiseptic cream, herbal tea, ice cubes and others.
- If you don't use anything on your coldsore it will probably hang around for ages. I get really bad coldsores and if I didn't treat them straight away they spread and are so uncomfortable. They would hang around for 2 weeks +. I use Aciclovir, which I get prescribed from the GP (but I think it's an ingredient in Zovirax - think my cream is a little stronger though) and it clears them up for me in about 5 days. I don't think there is anything that can get rid of them any quicker - not for me anyway.
- Hey i get cold sores i never take medicine .. i use a special cream called Zoverax and Compeed coldsore patches are a god send ... its like a wee clear plaster you place over the infected area and it helps the healing process... they are amazing because it speeds up heeling time and also i feel makes it feel a little less obvious!!!
Go to your local chemist and they will be able to sort you out!!! If this is what u mean by medicine then im sorry ... you could just let it take its natural course but they highly infectious and i would advise trying to get rid of it asap. I also stopped eating nuts because they are high in Arginine Too much arginine, which is an amino acid could cause them. Another God send is LAVENDER ESSENTIAL OIL. This stuff really works well. Usually takes away the swelling which is the worst part & disinfects & dries it out.

Years of suffering lol, but trust me about the Lavender oil ; ) & stay away from nuts! - if its inside of ur lip....go to a grocery store to the spices section and get a little package of something called alum stone...its a little see through stone almost looks like a little crystal should be about .99 cents...get a little piece and put it to the cold sore....leave it on for 3-5 minutes...it will burn a bit...after that do it the next day..it takes about 2 days for it to go away with this

old family tip - Tea Tree Oil is the best thing for cold sores. Just dab it on a few times a day. It will help dry it out, keep it clean and also helps stop it spreading.
Unfortunately there is no magic trick with cold sores, they will go away quicker if you avoid touching them, bursting them and unfortunately kissing is no good either.

Sufferer of many a cold sore over the years! - well my advice would be go to your local pharmacy for advice they should come up with something useful but since your saying u want it to be medicine free i would recommend keeping it moist through lip balm.

Good luck getting rid of the B♥stard! lol - this answer was in yesterdays daily mail. 1. at the first sign of a tingle. apply ice for 5 mins hourly.(cold stifles the sore) 2. make a cup of tea. 3. place hot teabag on area. (tannic acia in tea has antiviral properties). 4. apply petroleum jelly (vaseline). to the scab to prevent cracking.

- I had a cold sore last week and used compede on it, they're little patches that speed up the heeling process and cover the cold saor minimising visual signs its even there. I think i paid about £6.00 and you get 15 patches so well worth the money

experience! - If left untreated it can spread over a very large area and become very sore and ugly. Be smart and use a propriety cream formulated specifically for the treatment of cold sores. Try "Zovorax".

1) the better thing to do is smash the jaggery and soak it in the water at night, drink that soaked jaggery water in the morning..the sore will vanish with in 2 days..i will do the samething if i get..
2) apply ghee on the sore - Try breaking open a vitamin E capsuel and smoothing it on as often as you like. You can also dab on some peroxide. But don't use them at the same time.

- Why would you want to when the current medicines are so good? This is a hideous problem which needs a reliable solution.
- After shave lotion or any alcohol base scent. This will dry it up after a few applications, it stings like hell, but it works !
- i used to get cold sores and i used herpicin L, its like a cold sore lip balm stick
- I had really bad cold sores and i went to the specialist he said put antiseptic cream and Vaseline. I did it .. went real quick

1st hand experience. - wet the cold sore with water and put some salt on it..... or just wait for it to go by itself.
- These things usually show up when your body is in a run down state, I'd advise early nights good diet and some exercise OoH! and don't go kissin' frogs, lol
- i suffer from the same thing, what i do is take lots of vitamin c tablets and drink orange juice, the normally work! =D
- Drinking Hanny can save you from cold.
- My dad always uses a bit of perfume on his stings abit but he says it does the trick

don't ask me HOW it works, but it does get rid of the b!tches.
