What is the best way to treat cold sores and fever blisters?

I have a terrible case right now on my lips and I'm looking for something that will clear it up within a day or two or at least make me more comfortable :)

Cold sores and fever blisters are a type of herpes.

To stop them or greatly reduce them check out this site on the web....it is very good and although they don't claim to totally heal many have not had outbreaks for years, and this includes genital herpes.

    i get them all the time...its a form of herpes (dont worry your not gross and most likely you didnt get them from somebody- this is just form of herpes that stays in your body, just causing cold sores) and im sorry to say, it most likely wont clear up in a day, more like 5 to 10 days....

    for pain releif, i use carmex, or abreva- but that can be expensive, but apple cider vinager will help alot....

    there is a lip balm containing camphor and menthol in a petrolatum which is sold in most, if not all pharmacy's. it comes in a tiny jar or about 1/4 oz. it will probably make it more comfortable. it works by drying up the cold sore/fever blister, which are actually a type of herpes virus. if you get colds sores once you have the risk of having them reoccur. hope this helps
