Without hesitation, ABREVA over the counter cream. BUT it must be used in a very specific way (I have found): when you feel a tingling or burning in an area around the lips (but before you can see it), start putting it on then and every several hours thereafter until the tinging/burning goes away - this way you prevent it ever breaking out. I find this much more successful and also conscienciable than an oral prescription, especially beause of side effects. The ABREVA instructions also have a list of typical things that can bring on an attack such as too much sun and not just stress. Good luck!
