How to get rid of a cold sore in its late stage?

I have a huge annoying cold sore on my upper lip and I'm really tired of it. It's lowering my self-esteem as the days go by and getting rid of it would make my life only better. So please, if anyone knows any ways on how to get rid of it (while its in its late stage) then please tell me! Thank you.

It is so coincidental that you ask because i am having 4 cold sores on my lower lip since last 2 days!! I have been getting cold sores all my life inside and outside of my mouth!! Here is what i do(usually i start it the moment i feel itching sensation, so that the sores don't become big and visible):
1. Take b-complex capsules twice a day.
2. take some butter and heat it(should be hot and not lukewarm temp.) and then apply every hour on the area u feel the sore coming or the place where the sore has developed.
3. Drink LOTS of water, actually u might want to replace all your liquid intake(coffee, tea, coke, juice etc) with water.
Believe me if you follow these steps from the moment u feel it coming, the sores will not be visible and will go away. I did not take care of them this time and now they are so visible.
Once the sores come, they tend to stay a week or so or atleast till the b-complex deficiency has gone away.
B-complex capsules are available in any pharmacy store(walgreens, CVS) and u don't need a prescription for it.
Hope this helps.

Canker sores usually heal in about a week or two. Rinsing with antimicrobial mouthrinses may help reduce the irritation. Over-the-counter topical anesthetics which may have some antibacterial properties (for example, Zilactin) can also provide relief. Cold sores usually heal in about a week. Another medication, Valtrex, is a strong anti-viral that can be used to treat cold sores

A cold sore is a virus that runs about 10 days. One thing I find help it heal is to apply ice and herpecin-L. There is no cure for this virus and once you have it..just let it run it's course. For next time you can always see your doctor and he can prescribe some zovirax when you first feel that tingle and itch.

To get rid of it within 2 days follow these directions always works for me:
1.Poke it with a needle gross I know
2.put peroxide on it to get rid of the bacteria
3.use rubbing alcohol as many times as possible it'll dry it out
4.Repeat as many times as it poofs up
It'll cause your lips to be raw but it will get rid of the cold sore, I've done it forever and had nothing but success. Also don't put any lip gloss or lipstick or any other moisturizer on it it'll make it re-fill and stay longer.

super cure for a cold sore is to use Herpecin-L Lip Balm Stick. You can also use it when you go out for an extended time in the sun to prevent cold sores. If you put it on a few times a day when you get the first painful itch of a cold sore coming, the cold sore will not appear. If you already have a cold sore and apply this several times a day, it should not get any larger but start healing and shrinking right away. Put some on your finger instead of applying it directly from the tube so you won't get the germs in the medicine.

Or, you can apply St. John`s Wort essential oil. This contains tannins which dry up a cold sore. Because essential oils are very concentrated, only a drop or two is needed. Although St. John's Wort essential oil is not a pain killer, it seems to calm the nervous system and so is able to decrease the sensation of pain. It is also anti-inflammatory and antiseptic. It may be applied directly on areas where pain or inflammation occur, or on pulse points (wrists, on the back of the elbows, knees, etc.) during times of stress. When applied to the skin, it is delivered within seconds into the bloodstream and therefore bypasses the digestive process. The essential oil is for topical use only.

Or, saturate a cotton ball with Vitamin E Oil. Apply this to new cold sores and keep it on for 15 minutes. Apply the oil every three hours for the rest of that day, and then three times daily for two more days. In nearly all cases, pain disappears in less than eight hours.

Or, as soon as you realize you have a cold sore coming on, apply Witch Hazel to the site with a Q-tips cotton swab. It will immediately stop the process and prevent the spread of the blisters. Apply Witch Hazel frequently, and healing time is shortened to a fraction of normal.

Or, press a warm tea bag on your cold sore for 20 to 30 minutes, and tannins go to work. The next day it will be gone.

Or, When you feel that first tingle, put an ice cube on the cold sore for a few minutes several times during the day. Get the spot cold but be careful not to hurt your skin. This will stop the cold sore or at least lessen the its size. Later, put a hot rag (not hot enough to burn) on your cold sore to soothe the pain and help it to heal faster.

Taking Lysine daily should prevent cold sores. You can get lysine in non-fat yogurt, potatoes, milk, fish, chicken, and brewer's yeast. But, supplements are recommended in addition to these foods. Avoid foods with high arginine-to-lysine ratios, such as nuts, peanuts, oatmeal, peas, seeds, gelatin, chocolate, alcohol, caffeine, and sugar - they reduce the effectiveness of Lysine. You should also get an adequate supply of Vitamin C, Zinc, Iron, B Complex, Selenium, and Vitamin A daily.

The germs from your cold sore can get into your toothbrush and reinfect you up to a week later. You can disinfect your toothbrush (after every brushing) while you have a cold sore, then replace it after the cold sore is gone. To disinfect your toothbrush, simply pour some 3% Hydrogen Peroxide or Rubbing Alcohol over it, then rinse.

Get Valtrex! It's somewhat expensive for its size, but trust me, it def. works and lasts forever.
